Browse documents related to Regional Technical Forums. The Regional Technical Forums (RTF) of the GMS CDC project are special short events gathering top GMS experts . The overall purpose of RTF is to have these experts reach conclusive statements and/or produce concrete outputs on specific communicable disease-related issues; these can be a set of recommendations for operational strategy, a regional plan of action, a recommended list of research studies to conduct, or else. RTF are primarily forums. As such, participants are selected for their competence in the required field of expertise as well as on their known willingness to actively contribute to discussions. In this sense RTF are much closer to a high quality working group of experts than to a workshop . In a RTF one aims for mutual exchanges of knowledge and “know-how”. For a RTF to remain manageable – particularly this active participation in the discussion by each – the default number of participants should preferably not exceed 20 people. On an exceptionally basis if the organizing committee feels that a larger number of participants should be considered, explanations should be provided on how the organizers plan to keep the “liveliness” of the discussion manageable despite the number. RTF are hosted and organized by the CLV countries’ institutions, with technical support from ADB consultants and WHO experts, and charged on the regional Pooled Fund. | Summary | | | Main purpose | Reach conclusive experts’ statements and/or concrete outputs on specific Communicable Diseases-related technical issues commonly affecting the GMS countries.
