PATH is an international, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the health of people around the world. We are recruiting a Project Manager for our three-year project Enhancing influenza vaccine development in Vietnam aimed at building a regionally-based, independent and sustainable influenza vaccine production capacity in Vietnam.

Working closely with senior international and national PATH staff, country collaborators (Ministry of Health, vaccine manufacturers and other related agencies), the Project Manager will oversee the project team in Vietnam and will:

  • Support project design in collaboration with U.S.-based staff.
  • Lead the detailed implementation planning for in-country activities, including assessment of vaccine manufacturers and facilitation of technical assistance to vaccine manufacturers.
  • With support from Senior Team Leader, coordinate with Ministry of Health and other related ministries, vaccine manufacturers and other national/regional and provincial partners to plan and implement project activities.
  • Coordinate, supervise, and monitor all project activities including day-to-day project implementation.
  • Negotiate and monitor agreements with local counterparts.
  • Provide guidance, direction, and mentorship to local project staff.
  • Participate in preparing project reports and other project documentation.
  • Participate in the financial management of project activities.
  • Participate in monitoring and evaluation activities in collaboration with U.S. teams.
  • Facilitate all necessary in-country project approvals.
  • Develop and manage annual work plans and project budgets in collaboration with U.S. teams.
  • Identify and manage local consultants.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local partners.
  • Liaise with technical staff from U.S. teams.
Required Skills
  • Demonstrated report writing and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities at mid-management level
  • Proven interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team
  • Excellent written and spoken Vietnamese and English
  • Willingness and ability to travel within Vietnam up to 30 percent annually
Required Experience

Advanced degree in biological sciences or other relevant discipline and a minimum of 5 years progressive work responsibility with extensive project management experience; work experience in vaccine development as well as experience working effectively with government counterparts; experience working with the private sector and/or managing U.S. Government-funded projects a plus.
