The project: “Vietnam Avian and Human Influenza Control and Preparedness Project” is co-financed by the Government of Vietnam, AHI Facility Trust Fund, PHRD Grant of Japan and IDA Credit with a total project cost of around US$38.0 million. The project is implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) and Ministry of Health (MOH) in 11 selected provinces, namely Lang Son, Ha Tay, Thai Binh, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Thua Thien Hue, Binh Dinh, Tay Ninh, Long An, Dong Thap, and Tien Giang for a 4-year period from 2007 to 2010.

The Greater Mekong Communicable Diseases Control Project is seeking an Accountant for a Short Term assignment at its Regional Coordination Unit (RCU). The assignment – available immediately – will last until the closure of the RCU by end of May 2010. The Accountant will work under the close supervision of the Regional Coordinator and the Programme Officer of the project.
Scope of Work: The Project is to help the 3 Governments of Cambodia, Lao PDR and Viet Nam (“CLV countries”) to improve Communicable Diseases Control (CDC), including strengthening surveillance and response for disease outbreaks, controlling common endemic diseases, and strengthening regional cooperation in CDC. The Regional Coordination Unit (RCU) implements the overall regional coordination for this project, implementing regional activities, and supporting project implementation in Viet Nam.
The Accountant will be based at the Regional Coordination Unit (RCU) in Hanoi and liaise frequently with the Lao, Cambodia and Vietnam (CLV) Project Management Units (PMU) via telecommunication.

Abt Associates Inc. is seeking a candidate for a full time position on its USAID-funded Avian & Pandemic Influenza Initiative (APII). This project aims to strengthen Vietnam’s public and private capacities to prevent, rapidly detect, and respond to avian and pandemic influenza (API) and other zoonotic threats; and to begin preparing for a possible human influenza pandemic.
The Monitoring & Evaluation Manager, under the supervision of the Technical Director for Human Health and M&E, will develop and manage systems for the monitoring and evaluation of all project components.
