Scientific workshop focusing on scientific matchmaking, identifying opportunities for collaboration and forming consortia to bid into FP7 funding calls We are pleased to announce the SEA-EU-NET Symposium on Dengue on 5 August 2010 in Kuala Lumpur. The primary objective of the workshop is to bring together scientific experts to identify opportunities for collaboration. Dengue fever, which is the most efficient re-emerging and expanding pathogen of global importance is on a sharp rise worldwide, and represents a growing threat to the health of European and South East Asia citizens. Climate change may further increase the risk of Dengue outbreaks in both South East Asia and Europe as elevated temperatures will increase the geographical distribution of the disease. The symposium will serve as a platform for a co-ordinated and joint approach between researchers specialising in different disciplines. The primary objective of the workshop is to bring together scientific experts to identify opportunities for collaboration and form consortia to bid into the upcoming EU FP7 funding calls on Dengue. The workshop will also take stock of existing and planned research projects and identify the specific needs of each region and any potential issues for future collaborations. The workshop is sponsored by the SEA-EU-NET and supported by the British High Commission, Singapore, The British High Commission, Kuala Lumpur, and the Tropical Infectious Diseases Research and Education Centre (TIDREC), University of Malaya.
